Sharon Ann Walter, 77, of Centerville, Iowa passed away on February 23, 2024 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. She was born on October 11, 1946 in Centerville to Ray and Margaret Young Stickler. She married Alvin Foster in January 1965 in Cincinnati, Iowa. Alvin passed away on August 2, 1972. She married Marvin Walter in January 1993 in Udell, Iowa. Marvin passed away on August 3, 2015.
Sharon graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked in many different roles at hospitals and nursing homes in Iowa and Arizona before her retirement. She loved being a nurse and taking care of people. After retirement she spent countless hours driving others to appointments and on errands. She was a social person and loved being around other people. She had a special place in her heart for her two dogs, Sparky and Sam. Sharon also enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Sharon was a member of the Unionville Baptist Church in Unionville, Iowa. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by a brother, Rick Stickler of LaPorte City, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Dennis (Stephanie) Stickler Jr., Steven (Stacy Knapp) Stickler, Trinita (Chad) Shewry, Alissa (Jason) Burger, Matt (Brooke) Stickler, Melanie Billington, Mindi (Mason) Blizek; several great-nieces and nephews; and a great-great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a brother and his wife, Dennis and Francine Stickler; and a sister-in-law, Shelley Stickler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Josh Davenport officiating. Burial will be at the Elgin Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established and will be designated at a later date.
