A Centerville man was arrested in connection to the death of a two-year-old child.
According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, on January 19, emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence on Drake Avenue in Centerville with the report of an injured child. Journey Marberry was found injured in the home.
Journey was immediately transported to the local hospital and then to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
On January 27, Journey succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
Later that day, authorities arrested 48-year-old Roger Gillespie on a warrant for child endangerment causing death. The DCI says Gillespie was Journey’s caretaker at the time of her injuries.
Gillespie is currently in the Appanoose County Jail.
