Ottumwa City Council Candidate Field Set for General Election after Primary


A primary election was held on Tuesday to narrow the field of candidates for Ottumwa’s City Council.

Four of the five candidates who are running for city council will now appear on the ballot in the General Election.

Bill Hoffman Jr. had the most votes with 324. Keith Caviness was in second with 316. Cyan Bossou finished third with 293 votes. Joe Damerval also made the General Election ballot with 229 votes.

Marcia McDaniel finished with 94 votes.

Hoffman, Caviness, Bossou, and Damerval will vie for two city council seats. Current city councilmembers Russ Hull and Marc Roe will not run for reelection.

The General Election will be held on November 7.
