EBF Outlines Marching Band Highlights

The E.B.F.H.S. Marching Band finished up their season on Tuesday, October 17th with their Marching Band Extravaganza.

On Saturday, September 23rd the band traveled to Pella to participate in the Marching Dutch Invitational. The band, under the direction of Dezirae Fairchild, Asst. Director-Justin Von Ahsen, Colorguard instructor- Paige VerSteegh, and Drumline coordinator-Quinci Cottrell,
placed 2nd in their division and brought home “Outstanding Colorguard” in class 2A. The following weekend, the band traveled to the Davis County Festival of Bands, placing 1st in class 2A with percussion receiving top score in class 2A, and colorguard placing 3rd overall.

October 7th, the band traveled to West Des Moines for Valleyfest. In the morning competition, the band placed 1st in class 2A and brought home captions for: “Outstanding Drumline”, “Outstanding Marching”, “Outstanding Drum Major”, “Outstanding Hornline”,
“Outstanding Colorguard”, and “Outstanding Soloist”, Sarah Carman on Mellophone. Dalton Brinegar received the “Best Marcher” award. At Valleyfest Showdown, the band placed 2nd in class 2A, as well as the caption award for “Outstanding Marching” On Saturday, October 14th, the band traveled to Pella to participate in the IHSMA State Marching Festival, where they received their 37th consecutive Division I rating. That evening, the band wrapped up their competitive season at Mid Iowa Championships, placing 3rd in class 2A.

The band’s 2023 show is entitled: SHATTERED, with songs titled: In the End, Chasing Cars, and Titanium. Drum majors are Sarah Carman, Abby Jager, and Sadie Jager. Colorguard captain is Allie VanDonselaar.
