The Ottumwa Police Department is still investigating the incident that ended Ottumwa High School’s Homecoming football game at halftime.

Shots were reportedly fired during halftime of Ottumwa’s game versus Marshalltown and out of an abundance of caution, the police department and the Ottumwa Community School District made the decision to halt the game which ended in a 44-7 victory for Marshalltown.

Sergent Steve Kovacs of the Ottumwa Police Department told Ottumwa Radio News the incident is still being treated as an active shots fired investigation. Kovacs also shared that no shell casings were found.
