An Ottumwa man was arrested stemming from an alleged sexual assault that occurred last year.
38-year-old Gregory Guffey has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony.
According to the criminal complaint, Guffey, the female victim, and other individuals went out drinking. In the early morning hours of April 28, 2022, Guffey allegedly performed a sex act against the victim’s will. Police say the victim was “mentally incapacitated” at the time of the incident.
A warrant for Guffey’s arrest was issued on August 28 and he was taken into custody on September 2.
Guffey was transported to the Wapello County Jail and was later freed after posting a $10,000 bond. He has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
