A head-on accident in Washington County claimed the life of a Fairfield woman on Monday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Toyota Carolla driven by 76-year-old Ann Gary was traveling south on Highway 1.
The accident report states the Carolla crossed the center line and collided with a Nissan Altima.
Gary was transported to the hospital but died from injuries sustained in the wreck. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
