The Ottumwa Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is seeking the public’s help in locating an Ottumwa man who is on trial for killing his wife.
63-year-old Gregory Allen Showalter was not present in court on Friday when a Wapello County jury found him guilty of first-degree murder.
Authorities say Showalter is 6’2″ and weighs 160 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Showalter is accused of killing his wife Helen Showalter in July 2021. Helen Showalter’s body was found in the Des Moines River.
Anyone with knowledge of Gregory Showalter’s whereabouts is encouraged to call 911 or contact local authorites.
