Leona June Sammons, 70, of Fairfield, died at 11:30 p.m. September 12, 2023 at Prestige Care Center.
She was born June 25, 1953 in Ottumwa to Fred M. and Thelma Edith Wiseman Stice. She married Gerald L. “Jake” Sammons August 13, 1977 and he preceded her in death September 28, 2019.
June was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and had waitressed at various restaurants
Surviving are her children, Jamie (Sheri) Sammons of Norwalk and Shawn (Tammy) Cassady of Ottumwa; 9 grandchildren, Jacob, Sierra, Kaden, Breanna, Finnian, Kiah, Chelsa, Brandon and Shania (Paul); 5 great-grandchildren, Kacelyn, Kaleb, Kaelah, Draiden and Kinslea; and siblings, Karen Glasgow of Batavia, Phillip Richards of Battleground, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles, Fred and Dick Stice, David Fletcher and a brother in infancy; sisters, Betty Large, Joanna Henderson and a sister in infancy.
Visitation will be open at 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 19th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from noon to 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 19th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Janet Lasley officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
