Ival J. McVey, 77, of Ottumwa, died at 12:07 p.m. September 14, 2023 at Blessings Hospital in Quincy, IL.
He was born July 23, 1946 in Floris to Wesley and Ruth Hemm McVey.
Ival was an auto mechanic and a truck driver.
He was a member of the Kirkville Community Church. He enjoyed woodworking and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Candy (Jim) Schaffner, Angie (Tyler) Savage and Bill McVey all of Ottumwa; 7 grandchildren, Kristina (Andy) Kaelin of Ottumwa, James (Tina) Schaffner of Bondurant, Ashlee Archer of Ottumwa, Austin Knapp (Brittany Long) of Grimes, Madison Knapp of Ottumwa, Hannah (Ben) Batterson of Bloomfield and Ariel (Brandon) Nell of Ottumwa; siblings, Chuck (Janet) McVey of Rose Hill, Carolyn Williams of Ottumwa and Linda (Edwin) Gay of Washington state; and his dog, Jack.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two great grandsons, Caleb Albrecht and Joseph McVey; and siblings, Norma Anne McVey, Delbert McVey and Gene McVey.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 27th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Morrison officiating. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
