Benito Vasquez Sr., 73, of Bloomfield, died at 1:20 p.m. September 20, 2023 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born March 31, 1950 in Donna, TX to Guillermo and Julia Vasquez. He married Genoveva Perez on December 20, 1969 and they later divorced.
Benny worked at Excel for 20 years, starting in Friona, TX before transferring to Ottumwa in 1987 as purchasing manager. He moved to Kansas City in 1998 where he worked for Russell Stover Candies, 7th St. Casino and Gardner Kansas Printing prior to his retirement. He enjoyed living his retirement years in Perryton, TX and especially on the farm in Bloomfield with Bill and Jen.
Benny’s hobbies included reading his Bible, golfing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, listening to music, fishing, being on the farm and especially loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Surviving is his son, Benny Vasquez Jr. of Chariton; daughter, Jennifer Luko of Ottumwa; grandchildren, Chelsea Graham, Cody Livingston, Alexander Brown, Julia Brown and Aschelinn Brown; great-grandchildren, Carrie and Caitlyn Graham and Kingston Murphy; his siblings, Julio Vasquez, Willie Vasquez, Israel Vasquez and Minnie Ureste.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Vasquez; sister, Linda Diaz; and son-in-law, Billy Luko.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 26th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 27th at Reece Funeral Home with Chaplain Gary Brooks officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
