The city of Ottumwa says five candidates will vie for two open city council seats starting with a primary in October.
Cyan Bossou, Keith Caviness, Joe Damerval, Bill Hoffman Jr., and Marcia McDaniel were the candidates announced. A primary election will be held on October 10 to reduce the number of candidates to four. Then, the General Election will take place on November 7.
Current council members Russ Hull and Marc Roe have decided not to run for reelection.
Before the primary elections take place, candidates have until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 5 to withdraw or submit objection petitions to the City Clerk’s office.
