An Ottumwa man has been arrested in connection to the death of a Florida man in Russell, Iowa.
30-year-old Trenton Orwig is charged with second-degree murder.
According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, on August 4, the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office received the report of an assault in July that left a man seriously injured. 33-year-old Nicholas Johnson was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries three days later.
A joint investigation by the DCI and Lucas County Sheriff’s Office showed Johnson’s injuries were allegedly caused by Orwig.
Orwig was arrested without incident on August 25. He is currently being held without bond in the Lucas County Jail.
