A man riding a motorcycle was killed on Monday afternoon after an accident involving a car, according to Ottumwa police.
Lieutenant Jason Bell of the Ottumwa Police Department says at 3:52 PM, the department was notified of an accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 34 and Venture Place.
The preliminary investigation determined a motorcycle driven by 71-year-old James Coe of Ottumwa was traveling east on Highway 34 and a vehicle driven by 67-year-old Chris Ann Thoman-Shephard was turning onto Venture Place from the westbound lane of Highway 34 when the accident took place.
Coe was pronounced dead at the scene. Thoman-Shephard was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
Bell says Technical Accident Investigators from the Ottumwa Police Department processed the scene of the accident.
