Harold E. “Junior” Griffiths, 91, of Bloomfield, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 11:11 a.m. August 18, 2023 in Bloomfield.
He was born September 26, 1931 in Ottumwa to Roger and Cleo Stevens Griffiths. He married Evelyn M. Shepard March 25, 1951 and she preceded him in death November 24, 1999. He married Mary Delle Wasson on September 8, 2002 and she preceded him in death March 25, 2022.
Griff served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for John Morrell & Co. from 1950 to 1973 and was an over the road truck driver, retiring in 1993. In his retirement he helped Al Martin Real Estate and Auction.
He had been a member of the First Church of God and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving is a son, Richard (Linda) Griffiths; 4 grandchildren, Lisa Brandt, Krista (Jarrid) Tolly, Roger Griffiths and Eric Griffiths; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Griffiths; his sister, Carolyn VanDerHorst and a grandson-in-law, Shawn Brandt.
Visitation will be open at 9 a.m. Monday, August 21st at Reece Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 21st at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military honors conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
