A National Championship-winning water ski team featuring an Ottumwa native is inviting the public to check them out every Thursday this month in Cedar Rapids.
Earlier this month, the Five Seasons Ski Team won the Divison 2 Show Ski National Championship which was held at Loves Park, Illinois.
Brooklyn Beske (left), a graduate of Ottumwa High School, is a member of the team and comes from a family of water skiers. Beske’s family says she was on water skis since she was 2 years old and can do all types of skiing with her favorite being air-chairing.
For various reasons, Beske was not able to join the Five Seasons team until 2022. Once on the team, she mostly practiced pyramids and was put in shows and competitions which consists of an hour-long theatrical performance.
In addition to the team national championship, Five Seasons also secured awards for best dock and equipment, towboat driving, sound crew, showmanship, and production.
Five Seasons invites the public to watch a free performance every Thursday this month. The performances take place at Ellis Park in Cedar Rapids starting at 6:30 PM.
Along with Brooke in photo is her cousin Izabelle (Belle) Weets. Belle attended school in Ottumwa for three years from 2011-2013 before she moved with her family to Shellsburg, IA. Belle’s mom and step-dad both grew up in Ottumwa and graduated from Ottumwa High school in 2002 and 2001. Belle has been skiing since she was 5yrs old. Her grandparents are longtime Ottumwa natives Bruce and Marilyn Beske.
