In a closed session, Ottumwa’s City Council approved the city hiring an independent investigator to delve into possible personnel concerns within the Ottumwa Fire Department.
Des Moines-based Dentons Davis Brown PC was the firm hired to conduct the investigation.
City officials did not share any reasons why the Ottumwa Fire Department has fallen under scrutiny. However, Ottumwa Mayor Rick Johnson stated two firefighters have been put on paid administrative leave while the investigation proceeds.
