Donna Marie Adams, 83, passed away on Friday, April 14, in Columbia, MO. She resided at the Colony Pointe Arbors for four years before recently moving to the Neighborhoods by TigerPlace, in Columbia, MO.
Donna, daughter of Loren and Mary (Box) Shepherd, was born on August 22, 1939, in Burlington, Iowa. Donna attended parochial school for five years in Burlington before the family moved to Fairfield in 1949. Following her graduation from Fairfield High School in 1958, Donna attended lab technician school in Minnesota. After working as a lab tech for four years, she attended the nursing program at Indian Hills Community College. Donna worked as a Registered Nurse at the Fairfield and Ottumwa Hospitals from 1965 until 1981. Donna married Roxie Fulton in 1961; they made their home in Libertyville, Iowa, where they raised five children. Donna remarried Bob Adams on June 5, 1981; they made their home in Oskaloosa, IA. While living in Oskaloosa, Donna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O Chapter X, and Elmhurst Country Club. Donna enjoyed golfing with friends and family, singing in the church choir, wine groups, painting, questers club, being a hospice volunteer, playing the piano, and doing special things with her grandchildren. She was very creative and enjoyed decorating her home and working in her gardens. In 2014, Bob and Donna moved to Fairfield to be closer to her family.
Donna is survived by her children and their spouses: Kathryn and Alan Love of Libertyville, Kay and Tom Atwood also of Libertyville, Craig and Joan Fulton of Fairfield, Kristie and Steve Mitrisin of Columbia, MO, Karla and Dennis Whitaker of Sunrise Beach, MO, Dr. Bradley and Diana Adams of Austin, TX, Marcia and Patrick Crocker of Austin, TX and Julie and Mark Armstrong of Marion; and a brother Tom and Karen Shepherd of Seattle, WA. She was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her brother, Steve (Georgia) Shepherd, and sister Patricia Woodard.
Funeral Services for Donna will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with Rev. John D.Boatman officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Tuesday. Burial will be at the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, Iowa.
