The Chariton Valley Electric Operation Round Up Foundation Board announced the recipient of Operation Round Up®’s 2022 fourth quarter funds.

The Welcome Home Soldier Monument was awarded $5,000 to aid in lighting the trail that encompasses the monument with illuminated bollards from each branch of service with veteran’s names cut into each one. Lighting the trail will enable visitors to enjoy the monument day or night.

The Welcome Home Soldier Monument is located on Highway 34 just west of the Albia city limits. It is a public monument created to honor all United States Veterans, living or deceased, in the nation’s heartland. It is the desire of the Welcome Home Soldier Committee to build and maintain a monument that will honor our nation’s veterans – past, present, and future.

If you would like your non-profit organization to be considered for an Operation Round Up® grant, please visit the Chariton Valley Electric website at www.cvrec.com to complete the application documents by March 31, 2023.
