Ottumwa police say a southeast Iowa woman with an active arrest warrant attempted to flee and kicked law enforcement while resisting arrest on Thursday.

19-year-old Culsiana Comstock of Hedrick has been charged with assault on persons in certain occupations, a serious misdemeanor, and interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor.

Ottumwa police say officers informed Comstock that she was under arrest for a valid arrest warrant. Comstock tried to run into a residence on South Elm Street and had to be physically restrained.

Court records say Comstock resisted by flexing her body, pulling away from officers, and flailing her body. Comstock kicked an officer multiple times despite being told to stop kicking.

Comstock was transported to the Wapello County Jail where she is being held without bond, pending a hearing with a magistrate judge.
