The Ottumwa Police Department announced additional charges for arson suspect.
31-year-old Ashley Lankford was charged with 1st degree Murder, a class A felony, Attempt to Commit Murder, a class B felony, 1st degree Criminal Mischief, a class C felony, and Animal Abuse- Causing Death, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Lankford is accused of setting a house on fire located at 220 West Fifth Street early Sunday morning. One person, 59-year-old Ernest Wilson of Ottumwa, died in the fire.
The Ottumwa Police Department, the Ottumwa Fire Department, and the State Fire Marshall’s Office for the State of Iowa are continuing their investigation regarding the incident.
Lankford is located at the Wapello County Jail. Her bond is $1,000,000 cash.
