Ottumwa Community Schools’ Bulldog Battalion JROTC cadets recently put their training to the test during the Raider Competition at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
In addition to competing, the cadets had the opportunity to experience life on an active military installation. During their visit, they spent time alongside military personnel, shared meals with service members and stayed overnight in military barracks bunkers.
The experience challenged cadets to demonstrate physical fitness, leadership, teamwork and determination while representing Ottumwa Community Schools. It also provided a firsthand opportunity to learn from military personnel and gain a better understanding of military life and service.
With Veterans Day approaching, the experience serves as a reminder of the dedication and sacrifices made by veterans and active-duty military personnel.
Ottumwa Community Schools recognizes and thanks all those who have served and continue to serve the nation, as well as the positive example they provide for the next generation of leaders.
