Iowans will have an opportunity to support small businesses across the state during the fifth annual Shop Iowa Day on Wednesday, October 14.
The statewide shopping event encourages consumers to shop local, discover new businesses and keep more money within Iowa communities. Shop Iowa connects shoppers with hundreds of Iowa-based businesses representing all 99 counties through its online marketplace.
“ Iowa’s small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities,” said Cherie Edilson, founder of Member Marketplace. “Shop Iowa Day gives everyone an easy, exciting way to support those businesses, discover new favorites, and keep dollars right here in Iowa.”
This year’s event will feature special promotions on clothing, home décor, gifts and other products. Shoppers can take advantage of 30% off sitewide purchases, limited-time discounts from participating businesses, and a chance to win a $250 Shop Iowa shopping spree. Additional social media giveaways will also be offered.
Other promotions include a $5 Shop Iowa gift card with every $25 gift card purchase, along with free shipping from select businesses and local pickup options where available.
Early access to the promotions begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, for Shop Iowa email and text subscribers. The event opens to the general public Wednesday, October 14, and continues through 11:59 p.m. Shoppers can sign up for text alerts to receive deal updates and early access to the 30% off coupon code.
Iowa small businesses can also participate by creating a free profile and storefront through Shop Iowa’s website. Communities and organizations are encouraged to share the campaign and help promote local entrepreneurs.
Residents can explore participating businesses, shop available deals and learn more about the event by visiting ShopIowa.com. Businesses interested in joining the marketplace can visit ShopIowa.com/sell.
Shop Iowa Day offers consumers a convenient way to discover Iowa-made products, support small businesses and celebrate the entrepreneurs who help strengthen communities throughout the state.
