Jefferson County Halloween Events Planned Throughout October

Jefferson County communities have a variety of Halloween events planned throughout October and on Halloween night, with activities ranging from trunk-or-treats and hayrides to a 5K run and a pancake breakfast.

Jefferson County Fair Board Trunk or Treat — October 23rd

The Jefferson County Fair Board is kicking off the Halloween season early with a Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairfield.

Halloween Spook Ride — October 29th

Fairfield Parks and Recreation will host a Halloween Spook Ride at Water Works Park on Thursday, October 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event features a hayride through a haunted trail followed by a hot dog after the ride. Admission is free will donation. The event may not be suitable for young children.

Loop the Loop Halloween Hustle — October 31st

The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the first-ever Loop the Loop Halloween Hustle on Saturday, October 31st at Maasdam Barns and the Loop Trail. Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and the run and walk begins at 8:00 a.m. Participants can choose between a 5K or 1K route. Registration is $35 per person, with children 12 and under free. Beyond the run, the event will feature a costume contest, pumpkin bowling, face painting, a photo booth, and a haunted barn. Registration is available at tinyurl.com/LoopTheLoop5K.

Fairfield Trick-or-Treat — October 31st

Trick-or-treating in Fairfield is scheduled for Saturday, October 31st from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Libertyville Halloween Kids Day — October 31st

Libertyville will host a full day of Halloween festivities on Saturday, October 31st. A Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast will be held at the Libertyville Fire Department from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. At 10:00 a.m., a Trunk or Treat will take place at The Last Bell. A Penny Carnival runs from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Last Bell — on the playground if weather permits, or in the gym if not. Costume prizes and Trunk or Treat décor awards will be presented at 11:30 a.m. Hilltop Outdoor Power and Repair will provide hayrides throughout the day. Hot dogs and chips will be available for a free will donation, with proceeds going toward next year’s Fourth of July celebration.
