The Iowa Gold Star Military Museum at Camp Dodge will host a special exhibit dedication Saturday, October 10, honoring the women who have served the nation as military nurses.

The dedication will recognize generations of women who answered the call to serve, from the Civil War era through today. Military nurses have played an important role in caring for wounded service members, working alongside troops and helping shape the history of military medicine.

Lt. Col. Katie Lunning will be the special guest for the dedication as the museum recognizes the courage, compassion and commitment of women who have served in military nursing roles.

The exhibit is intended to preserve and share their stories while highlighting the lasting impact these women have had on the military and the nation.

The dedication will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum on Camp Dodge.

The event is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend and help honor the women who have served their country and contributed to the history of military medicine.
