The Sigourney FFA Chapter has been crowned the Iowa FFA State Soil Judging champions, with Dayne Chittick claiming the individual state title, according to social media posts from the Sigourney Community School District and Sigourney FFA Chapter.
The team competed Thursday, October 8th at Iowa State University in Ames. Chittick won the overall individual championship, Rex Flynn finished third, and Cooper Moore placed seventh.
Keota FFA also competed at the state contest, finishing eighth as a team. Brennan McGuire led the Eagles individually with a sixth-place finish. Other members of the Keota team included Porter Cave, Memphis Jaeger, and Tucker Sprouse. The Keota FFA Chapter noted the team showed tremendous improvement from their first contest of the season to the state competition.

As state champions, the Sigourney FFA soil judging team has earned a trip to Oklahoma this spring to compete at the national level.
