2026)— Ottumwa Regional Health Center (ORHC) has been selected by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to receive funding for the Combat Cancer Health Hub Program, a statewide initiative designed to strengthen cancer prevention, early detection and patient support services across rural Iowa.

The funding will support ORHC’s ongoing efforts to enhance cancer care through the McCreery Cancer Center, strengthening care coordination, patient navigation and community partnerships while building upon the hospital’s existing cancer services. Through the McCreery Cancer Center, ORHC provides radiation therapy, infusion services, breast health services and cancer screenings, helping patients receive high-quality cancer care close to home.

“This funding allows ORHC to further our mission of making communities healthier by strengthening the cancer
services we already provide and enhancing the support available to patients and families throughout our region,”
said CEO, Richard Bergmann. “We are honored to be selected for this important statewide initiative and look
forward to working with our state and community partners to continue improving the cancer care experience for
the communities we serve.”

Implementation of the Combat Cancer Health Hub Program will begin in the coming months, with ORHC collaborating closely with state partners and local organizations through a hub and spoke model to implement the initiative and strengthen collaboration in support of cancer care across southeast Iowa.

The Combat Cancer Health Hub Program is supported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award totaling approximately $209,040,063.71, with 100 percent funded by CMS/HHS.
