Michael Ross Chickering, 78, of Agency died at 10:50 a.m. August 14, 2026 at his home.
He was born November 27, 1947 in Ottumwa to Lewis and Mary Turner Chickering. He married Teresa Munley July 14, 1972.
Growing up in Agency, Mike had attended Cardinal High School. He worked 30 years for John Deere Ottumwa Works and John Deere Davenport Works, retiring in 2004 as a welding inspector.
Mike attended many car shows and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, working in his yard and watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball. He loved animals, especially his 2 labradors, and liked feeding and watching birds.
Surviving is his wife Teresa; their daughter, Maria (Donnie) McMahan of Anamosa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Fredrick Chickering; brother, John Chickering; and sisters, Marianne Klicker and Rozilla “Rozi” Sadler.
His body has been cremated. Visitation with family present to greet friends will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 19th at Reece Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 20th at Reece Funeral Home with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating.
