Connie Marcine Simmer, 78, of Ottumwa died at 6:48 p.m. August 13, 2026 at her home.
She was born June 1, 1948 in Ottumwa to DeWight and Opal Shaffer Liles. Connie married Howard Morrow in 1967 and they later divorced. She married Gary Simmer and he preceded her in death in 2003.
Growing up in Eldon, Connie graduated from Cardinal High School in 1966. She cleaned at Hawkeye’s Car Credit and worked at Wendy’s restaurant.
Connie was a member of Ottumwa Eagles Aerie #114. She enjoyed bowling, shuffleboard and BINGO. She also enjoyed music, dancing and was an Elvis fan.
Surviving are her children, Lisa Carroll, Larry Morrow (Jimmy Snook), Shawn Simmer (fiancé, Annette Snow) all of Ottumwa; a stepson, Brian Miller of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren including Otis Simmer whom she helped raise; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepson, Todd Miller; siblings, Judy Saner, Carolyn Jones, Donna Hill and stillborn brother, Robert Lee Liles.
Visitation will be open after 10 a.m. Monday August 17that Reece Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday August 18th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
