Fairfield Mayor Connie Boyer announced Monday evening that she intends to appoint Joel Smith as the city’s next police chief at the July 27th city council meeting, according to comments made during the July 13th Fairfield City Council meeting.
Smith has been serving as interim chief since the passing of former Chief David Thomas in January. Boyer said details on an employment contract are currently being worked out and that the council can expect to take action on the appointment at the next meeting on July 27th.
No additional details about the appointment or the contract were shared at Monday’s meeting.
