Carol Ellen McCarroll, 90, of Agency died at 5:30 p.m. July 8, 2026 at her home.
She was born August 3, 1935 in Oskaloosa to William Howard “Bud” and Blanche Norris Johnson. She married Roscoe B. McCarroll Jr. May 29, 1952 and he preceded her in death December 22, 1993.
Carol attended Agency High School and later earned her Associate of Arts Degree from Indian Hills Community College. She worked for Cardinal Schools as a cook and librarian and later retiring as the secretary for the Cardinal High School principal.
Carol was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church where she was board secretary along with other board positions, a deaconess and a member of Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed baking pies and loved flowers, birds, gardening and crafting. She especially loved her family and was a constant cheerleader and the #1 fan of her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Deb (Randy) McClure of Eldon, Doug (Teri) McCarroll, Diane Hofstetter both of Ottumwa, Donna Heller (Brian Ballheim) of Waterloo and Renee McCarroll (Craig Walker) of Bloomfield; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Fran (Tom) Brothers of St. Joseph, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ryan McCarroll; a daughter, Denise McCarroll; a great-granddaughter, Ayla; great-great granddaughter, Sadie; sisters, Jean J. Scott and Iris Cassat; and brother, Tom Johnson.
Her body has been cremated.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14th at Reece Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15th at Reece Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Eldon Cemetery.
