An 18-year-old Ottumwa man is facing multiple felony charges following a narcotics investigation by the Ottumwa Police Department.

On June 23, officers served an arrest warrant on Xzander Weaver, 18, of Ottumwa, after completing an investigation into the alleged sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.

According to a criminal complaint, the investigation began on March 4 at approximately 1:00 p.m. after officers identified a Snapchat account allegedly connected to the sale of illegal drugs.

Court documents allege investigators observed Weaver using the account to advertise illegal narcotics for sale by posting photographs, weights, and prices. Investigators also reportedly discovered numerous conversations between Weaver and individuals discussing the purchase of illegal drugs.

According to court records, several of those communicating with Weaver were believed to be juveniles. Investigators interviewed the juveniles, who allegedly identified Weaver in a photo lineup and told officers they had purchased illegal narcotics from him.

Weaver is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2.

Weaver has been charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance to a Person Under 18, both Class D felonies, and one count of Controlled Substance Violation, also a Class D felony.
