A Jefferson County man is facing a felony charge after allegedly discharging a firearm in the presence of his wife and a family friend early Saturday morning, according to Jefferson County court documents.
David Rippey, 55, of Libertyville has been charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, a Class D Felony.
According to court documents, Rippey and his wife had been at a bar in Libertyville in the early morning of June 20th. Rippey left to return home and wanted his wife to accompany him, but she chose to remain at the bar. At approximately 1:47 a.m., the wife received a ride home from a family friend. When she exited the vehicle upon arriving home, Rippey allegedly discharged a Ruger LCP .380 handgun, placing both his wife and the family friend in fear for their safety, according to court documents.
Rippey was arrested and taken to jail. He has since posted a $5,000 surety bond, entered a plea of not guilty, and waived his preliminary hearing.
