A Jefferson County man is facing a domestic abuse charge following an alleged incident Sunday afternoon.
Kent Carlson, 54, of Lockridge has been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault — First Offense, a simple misdemeanor. Deputies responded to a call in Lockridge at approximately 3:32 p.m. on Sunday, May 31st after a neighbor called dispatch reporting that Carlson had been locked out of his house by his wife and had broken the door down.
According to court records, Carlson told responding authorities that his wife had broken the glass on the door and that he had not done anything. His wife told the deputies that Carlson broke the glass on the door with a rake and then struck her in the back of the head. Law enforcement observed visible red marks on the back of the wife’s head, and a neighbor’s video footage reportedly showed Carlson breaking down the door.
Carlson was released without bond and entered a plea of not guilty. A pretrial conference is scheduled for July 9th. A no-contact order has been requested in the case.
