Amy Jo Young, 47, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on May 23, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She was born on March 28, 1979 in Ottumwa, Iowa to DeWayne Madison and Debra Sue Swanson Cason. She grew up in Davis County and graduated from Davis County High School in 1998. She was a gifted athlete while attending school. Amy married Joe Young on August 4, 2001. Their marriage was blessed with two children: Sophia and Cason. Amy worked for Lynch Law Office in Bloomfield for many years.

Amy’s life was centered around her family – she loved being a wife and a mother. Sophia and Cason were both active in Davis County athletics and Amy made it a point to be at every event to show love and support. She also cherished many wonderful memories of vacations to Florida and Mexico to enjoy family time, walking on the beach looking for seashells, eating seafood, and spending time with friends. Everywhere Amy went, Amy had friends. Her outgoing personality made her an easy person to love. Her lifelong girlfriends were considered family in her eyes and she loved spending time with them. Amy’s home was always welcome to family, friends, and her children’s friends – she liked that her home was a common gathering spot for everyone. Amy and Sophia also liked to go shopping and thrifting together. Her laughter will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Young; daughter, Sophia Young; son, Cason Young; parents, DeWayne and Debra Cason of Bloomfield; brother, Jaime Cason of Bloomfield; grandmother, Marilyn Barnes of Ottumwa, Iowa; mother-in-law, Nancy (Lloyd) Lanman of Bloomfield; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and JoAnn Swanson; grandfather, Tom Cason; and father-in-law, Frank Young.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the Bloomfield Christian Church with Pastors Don Naftz and Charles Courtney officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Davis County “A” Club, Davis County Look to the Stars Cancer Foundation, and the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minnesota.
