Ottumwa Fire Crews Respond to Fully Engulfed Structure on South Union Street

On April 21st, Ottumwa first responders were dispatched to a residence on South Union Street for a reported house fire.

Upon arrival, crews found the rear of the home fully engulfed in flames, with heavy black smoke visible coming from the structure.

Firefighters quickly began working to bring the situation under control.

Two occupants suffered burns and smoke inhalation and are being treated at the Ottumwa Regional Hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
