A Keokuk County man was arrested Tuesday, March 31st after allegedly violating an active no-contact order, according to the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office.

Charles Pearson, 55, of Delta, was charged with Violation of a No-Contact/Protective Order — Contempt, a simple misdemeanor, following an incident that occurred at 12:31 p.m.

According to court documents, the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the victim stating the defendant was “going crazy.” When officers arrived, Pearson was attempting to leave in a vehicle and was stopped and arrested. After being read his Miranda rights, Pearson told officers that the victim had come to his camper the previous night and that a friend was going to take her to a shelter. He also stated the victim had been burning his clothes.

The victim told officers she had been living with Pearson for approximately a month and a half. She said she was woken up that morning by Pearson, who began yelling and throwing things at her before she was able to call 911.

The victim confirmed there was an active no-contact order between herself and Pearson, with her as the protected party. Court documents show an active no contact order is in place through Mahaska County, as Pearson was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault — Injury or Mental Illness, a serious misdemeanor, in August of 2025.

Pearson is being held on cash or surety bail in the amount of $300. A pretrial conference is scheduled for April 27th.
