Shirley Darlene Patterson, 80, of Sigourney, died at 12:18 p.m. March 1, 2026 at her residence.
She was born November 5, 1945 in Pittsburgh, IA to Charles and Pauline Wright Wallace. Shirley married Junior Edward “Butch” Patterson on February 24, 1964 and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2016.
Shirley enjoyed riding horses when she was younger and driving the pony cart for the Fort Madison Trail Ride. Shirley was a member of Ottumwa Saddle Club and Soap Creek Rebels. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with family, especially the grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Scott (Priscilla) Patterson of Ottumwa, Tammy (Rich) Pilcher of Ottumwa and Patty (Roger) Adams of Stonefort, IL; 6 grandchildren, Fleecia (Travis) Vogt, Cody (Ashlie) Pilcher, Jenaya (Matt) Kline, Josh (Elizabeth) Luedtke, Kyle (Brittany) Luedtke and Bre (Tyler) Phillips; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and her sister, Marilyn (Bill) Mineart of Albia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Eddy Patterson; an infant daughter, Cindy Patterson; and 3 brothers, Larry, John and Donald Wallace.
Visitation will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5th, at Reece Funeral Home.
The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the services.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 6th, at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
