Marilyn Jones, 89, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Keokuk, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House.

Marilyn J. Jones was born September 28, 1936, in Palmyra, MO, and was soon after adopted by James and Margaret (Bennet) Sweet, and moved to Keokuk, IA.

Growing up, Marilyn attended Keokuk Community Schools. She had many fond memories with her family and friends, especially growing up across the street from her dear friend, Tommy. Marilyn graduated with the class of 1954 from Keokuk High School and, in that same year, married her best friend from across the street, Thomas “Tommy” Jones. Marilyn and Tom lived in Keokuk and raised their family. The couple was blessed with two sons and two daughters.

The family enjoyed many adventures together, many of which included camping and other family trips. Marilyn was a homemaker and a volunteer, helping many patients at the convalescent center. She was a member of the P.T.A. at her children’s school and enjoyed the occasional bingo night with friends and family.

Marilyn’s family includes her son, Kevin (Dee) Jones of Oskaloosa; her daughter, Amy Joann (Joe) Coulter of Chatham, IL; a son-in-law, Don Severns of Hamilton, IL; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Jones of Keokuk, IA; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, a daughter, Tracie Lynn Severns, and a son, Thomas B. Jones.

As was her wish, Marilyn has been cremated, and no services are planned at this time.

Langkamp Funeral Chapel and Crematory has been entrusted with her final arrangements.
