Aubrey Jo Coder-Holderman, 35, of Grinnell, formerly of Montezuma, passed away comfortably on January 15, 2026, at Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
Aubrey Jo Coder-Holderman, daughter of Brian Curtis Severson and Jamie Sue Coder, was born on July 5, 1990, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family moved around during her educational years, and she obtained her GED. Aubrey’s first daughter, Alexis, was born to the union of David Reed and Aubrey. She then later married Charles Jones, and to that union, two sons, Bentley and Charles, and one daughter, Bailey, were born. They later divorced. Aubrey married Chris Holderman on September 14, 2020, in Montezuma, and from that union, two children were born: Lily and Bodhi. The family has lived in Montezuma for the past 7 years and, most recently, in Grinnell.
Aubrey enjoyed caring for her plants, being outdoors, and visiting with family and friends. She had a love for all things mermaids that matched her whimsical personality. Many cherished loved ones will miss her greatly.
Those left to cherish Aubrey’s memory are her husband, Chris of Grinnell; her daughter, Alexis Coder of Grinnell; her children: Bentley, Bailey, and Charles Jones of Rhylander, Wisconsin; her children: Lily and Bodhi Holderman of Grinnell; her siblings: Justin (Sarah) Coder of Cedar Rapids; Keaton Laver of Anamosa; Dakota Lent of Denver, Colorado; Brianna Volesky (Josh Vawter) of Clinton, Iowa; Ciara Wade (Brian Taylor) of Davenport; Jacob (Adriana) Severson of Colorado; her step-brother, Zach Chapman of Manchester, Iowa; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; her mother and step-father, Jamie Coder and Curtis Laver of Anamosa; her father and stepmother, Brian and Melissa Severson; and her grandparents.

As her wish, Aubrey has been cremated so that her family can spread her ashes in the mountains where she wanted to be, surrounded by nature and beauty forever. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with Aubrey’s final arrangements.
