The head of the American Farm Bureau Federation says nationwide, year-round E-15 might be within reach this month.

“We’re really close. We are really close.

Zippy Duvall says it will still take a large grassroots effort from farmers to make the case that higher ethanol blends can significantly increase demand. “We need a good push on Congress to make sure we get that put in statute.  We have unity with the commodity groups. We’ve worked really hard with the petroleum groups.”

Earlier this fall, the American Petroleum Institute reversed it support, but Duvall tells Brownfield, “If we can come to an agreement on a few little bumps on what we think out to be done and what they think out to be done, it will be a non-issue.”

Kansas Farm Bureau President Joe Newland says it will likely have an immediate impact on bottom lines. “If you put that product in all pumps and stations across this country, it will take a big relief off the corn producer.

During a White House meeting recently, he says the President remains committed expanding ethanol demand and will likely sign the legislation.
