Kathryne Elizabeth Blomgren, 41, of Indianola, died at 6:26 a.m. November 14, 2025 at Christian Opportunity Center group home in Indianola whose staff loved and cared for her for many years.
She was born June 20, 1984 in Mount Pleasant to Terry Alan and Suzann Marie Parker Blomgren. Katie graduated from the special education department through Ruby Van Meter High School.
Katie was very social and enjoyed being around others. She participated in Special Olympics, enjoyed going shopping, going out to eat, having her diet Mt. Dew caramel coffee and lemon water as well as having her hair and nails done. Katie enjoyed going on her group home activities, including going to Saylorville Lake and watching the hot air balloons in Indianola. Katie was very perceptive, she could look at someone and see into their soul. Katie was everyone’s favorite.
Surviving are her parents, Terry and Suzi Blomgren of Crown Point, IN; siblings, Kia (Jon) Jarvis of Wayland, IA, Joshua “Osh” (Alex) Blomgren of Riverside, IL and Taryne (Chad) Maatman of Schererville, IN; 8 nieces and nephews, Caden, Brigsby, Addie, Ella, Beckett, Sawyer, Talan and Paxton; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Katie was preceded in death by grandparents, Albert Parker, William and Dona Blomgren, William and Lucy Callison.
Her body has been cremated and services are not planned at this time.
