Eight Fairfield High School chorus students earned positions in the 2025 Iowa All-State Chorus following auditions held Saturday at Iowa City West High School, demonstrating the strength of the Trojan vocal music program.
All-State Qualifiers
Tara Carter secured a spot in Alto 1, while Nicole Hunger qualified for Alto 2. In the soprano section, Bailey Belzer and Layla Terrell both earned Soprano 2 positions.
Xavier Kessel made Tenor 1, with Ulysses Ascencio-Solis and Shri Pattar qualifying for Tenor 2. Landon Price-Burton rounded out Fairfield’s qualifiers by earning a position in Bass 2.
Additionally, Daisy Trent was named an alternate for Soprano 1.
Prestigious Recognition
The All-State Chorus represents Iowa’s top high school vocal talent, with students from across the state competing for limited positions in each voice section. Selection requires exceptional vocal ability, musicianship, and performance skill demonstrated through a rigorous audition process.
Program Excellence
The strong showing by Fairfield vocalists reflects the quality of the high school chorus program under the direction of Mr. Reiter. Having eight students qualify for All-State demonstrates consistent excellence in vocal instruction and student development.
The Fairfield singers will travel to Ames for the Iowa All-State Music Festival, held November 20–22. They will spend Friday and Saturday in a series of open and closed rehearsals alongside the state’s top vocalists, band members, and orchestra musicians. On Friday, November 21st, chorus rehearsals will take place throughout the day. On Saturday, November 22nd, rehearsals continue in the morning, followed by photo sessions and final closed rehearsals inside Hilton Coliseum, where the groups will prepare for the evening performance.
The festival culminates with the All-State Music Festival Concert, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, in Hilton Coliseum at Iowa State University. A pre-concert awards ceremony will begin at 7:15 p.m., and the Fairfield vocalists will perform as part of Iowa’s premier high school music event.
