A boil water order is in place until further notice for customers on the high side of the water system. If you experienced low water pressure or no water today, this order applies to you.
Why the Boil Order is in Place
Before a boil order can be lifted, two separate sets of water samples from the affected area must test negative for bacteria, such as coliforms:
- Once the issue causing the boil order is resolved, the first set of samples is taken and tested.
- If those results are negative, a second set is collected—usually after about 24 hours.
- Both sets must test negative before the order can be lifted.
When both tests come back clear, the City of Eldon will officially lift the boil order.
