In an incredible story of survival and determination, a white livestock dog named Taylor has been on the run for nearly a month—and now the community is stepping up to help bring her home.
Taylor has covered more than 100 miles across southeast Iowa and was last spotted around 6 p.m. yesterday in a cornfield near Swedesburg. She’s developed a habit of traveling at night and resting in the early evening, usually between 6 and 8 p.m.
A big thanks goes to the Mount Pleasant Police Department and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, who’ve gone above and beyond to help in the search. Out of all the law enforcement agencies contacted between Eddyville and Mount Pleasant, these are the only two departments actively working to get Taylor home safe.
Volunteers tracking Taylor say she’s smart, determined, and constantly on the move—making the rescue effort tough. She’s been seen in several towns along her route, including Lockridge, Fairfield, and Agency.
Residents near Swedesburg and along Highway 218 north of Mount Pleasant are urged to stay alert. If you see Taylor, please don’t chase her. Instead, try to contain her in a fenced area, garage, or shed and call or text 641-226-7524 right away. Taylor isn’t aggressive toward people or animals but is extremely shy and easily spooked.
