Carla Ann Hartley, 70, of Ottumwa died at 9:21 a.m. June 19, 2025 at her home.
She was born May 25, 1955 in Baltimore, MD to William Alexander and Marylla “Mary” Dorothy Hendricks Cook. Carla married Jack Howard Hartley Jr. on October 18, 1975.
Growing up in Ottumwa, Carla was a 1973 graduate of Ottumwa High School. She had worked as a waitress at McDonald’s, KFC and Maid Rite, had also worked in child care for various day cares and worked at APAC. She retired from working at JBS.
Carla was a girls softball coach and was involved in her sons’ baseball. She enjoyed bowling, attending casinos and buying lottery tickets.
Surviving is her husband, Jack; their sons, Clint Hartley of Ottumwa and Brandon (Emily) Hartley of Bloomfield; 4 grandchildren, Chloe Hartley, Tyler Hartley, Lauryn Hartley and Addisyn Hartley; a great-grandchild on the way; a brother, Bill Cook of Minnesota; a sister, Laura (Alan) Gray of Eddyville; along with several half-siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Eric Hartley; and a brother, Bernie Cook.
Visitation is open at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23rd, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
Cremation will follow the visitation.
