Severe weather is forecast over several Midwestern states Monday.
Iowa State Climatologist Justin Glisan says an outbreak could occur across Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas.
“All the ingredients are there. A jet stream, strong jet core over the Upper Midwest, along with ample flow from the Gulf, dewpoints getting into the 60’s. So moisture lift and instability with this low pressure center that will form ahead of the upper level disturbance.”
He tells Brownfield thunderstorms, hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are all possible.
“Right now as we look at the modeling and the guidance from the Storm Prediction Center, all modes of severe weather are possible including some strong tornadoes.”
Glisan says heavy rains will accompany these storms, which could result in further planting delays.
