Oskaloosa, Iowa. Terrance Reed, 85, of Oskaloosa died Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at his home in Oskaloosa. Terry was born December 3, 1939, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Rex and Margaret King Reed. He graduated from Park Rose High School in Portland with the class of 1958. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While deployed in Spain, he met Adoracion “Dori” Peral Scott. They were married in Spain and moved to Portland when his deployment ended. To this union two children were born, Ron and Sandra. Terry and Dori later divorced. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1967. He returned to Portland and started working for Pacific Northwest Bell in 1967, and he continued to work for the company through several name changes and mergers over the years and retired from Century Link in December 2001. On May 31, 1985, he was united in marriage to Arnella “Dee” Couch in Vancouver, Washington. To this union Dee brought two daughters, Brenda and Tracy. Terry and Dee enjoyed nearly forty years of marriage. They traveled the country in their RV, spent many years in southern Texas, and made countless memories with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Terry loved to fish, and he may have been Oskaloosa’s biggest Oregon Ducks football fan! He had a great sense of humor, and nobody was safe from his teasing and practical jokes. Terry had a compassionate heart and gave generously to many. He delighted in spending time with his family and was always an active grandpa and great grandpa.
Terry had the selfless heart of a servant and was honored twice for his heroism, rescuing two individuals from life-ending situations on two separate occasions. Terry realized that he also needed a savior and turned his life over to the Lord many years ago. He confirmed his trust in Jesus as his savior recently as his health started to fail.
His family includes his wife of 39 years, Dee Reed of Oskaloosa; four children, Ron Reed of Oregon, Sandra Roskott of Oregon, Brenda (Ed) Milano of Long Beach, Washington, and Tracy (Kevin) Klucas of Oskaloosa; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis (Susan) Reed of Oregon.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; and two great grandchildren.
As was Terry’s wish, his body has been cremated, and no services are planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
