Marjeana Floy Derby, 76, of Ottumwa, died at 7:34 a.m. February 4, 2025 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
She was born January 21, 1948 in Iowa City to Elmer and Marjorie Simpson Reece. Marjeana married Larry Wayne Derby on August 5, 1972 and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2021.
Marjeana grew up in Diagonal and graduated from Diagonal High School in 1966. She graduated from Indian Hills Community College and worked as a LPN for Good Samaritan for 25 years as well as other local nursing homes. She also worked at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, retiring in 2022.
She was a member of Zion Community Church of God and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #114.
Marjeana enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and camping. She also enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair and Old Threshers Reunion, but especially loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Terry (Debbie) Derby of Ottumwa, Tracy (Joe) Clawson of Bloomfield and Tom Derby (Katie Wyers) of Ottumwa; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Baker, Cooper Derby, Parker Derby, Kristen King and Natasha Clawson; 3 great-grandchildren, Rhys, Remi and Rory; a sister, Holly Halverson of Perry; a brother-in-law, Laverne Derby of Newport News, VA and sister-in-law, Ruth Reece of St. Louis, MO; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roger Reece.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 15th at Zion Community Church of God with Pastor John Mark Henry officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
The family will be present to greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
