Freezing rain this evening and overnight will result in accumulating ice across Iowa this tonight and into Saturday. Ice amounts can range from one tenth to 3 tenths of an inch, with the highest amounts generally north of I-80 and east of I-35.
Travel will become hazardous tonight into Saturday morning with icy roadways. Branches & power lines may become ice coated with the potential for power outages. Winds at 10-20 mph could cause icy tree limbs to break making power outages more likely.
If you are going outside, watch out for icy steps, sidewalks, and driveways that could cause you to fall and be injured. If at all possible avoid travel until roads have been cleared. You can check road conditions at 511ia.org.
